In preparation for the third session of the Muslim Gamechangers Network program, students interviewed their parents and grandparents in order to gain a deeper understanding of their family history. Many of the students are sons and daughters of immigrants, whose families were affected by civil war, occupation, dictatorship, and lack of economic opportunity. Students learned about identifying the larger social, political, and economic factors which have shaped their families’ lives.
Here’s what our facilitator Amina Maameri had to say about this session:
“Powerful session today at the Muslim GameChangers session. Topic: knowing your history, knowing yourself: heritage & homeland. Blown away by the youth’s interactions today mashAllah! Great work fellow facilitators”
